2014 Bremen Six Day

2014 Bremen Six Day

The 2014 Bremen Six Day will take place from the 9th to 14th January 2014 in Bremen, Germany.

--------------------------------------------------------------

2014 Bremen Six Day - Day Six

As foreseen the final was a duel between the teams Lampater – Stroetinga and Bartko – Kalz. That Lampater and Stroetinga should be the winners was perhaps not so surprising when you look at the previous results this winter.

Leif Lampater has been riding excellent this whole season and Stroetinga coming with the form from Rotterdam was a perfect match.

2014 Bremen Six Day

They were for sure the right winners of this race. But that it should happen after a finish which was in fact a “dead race” with both teams ending of the same amount of points was sensational.

Only the result of the very last sprint decided! We can only say, that Lampater – Stroetinga must have had the nerves and the confidence in themselves. Behind those two top-teams were also the fight for 3rd place. And this fight was won by Müller – Hester.

For Marc Hester it was important to show what he is capable of doing, when he has the right partner.

Overall Standings - Main Competition
1 Leif Lampater (GER) – Wim Stroetinga (NED), 359 p.,
2 Robert Bartko – Marcel Kalz (GER), 359 p.,

At Thirty-Eight Laps

--------------------------------------------------------------

2014 Bremen Six Day - Day Five

The second-last evening in Bremen was the evening of Bartko – Kalz and Lampater – Stroetinga (on the track) and of Klaus & Klaus (assisted by Danny Clark) in the midfield. Bartko – Kalz won the first Madison, Lampater – Stroetinga the second. In both chases all four top-teams ended up in the same lap.

And as Hester – Müller during the evening passed the 200 points (as the last of the four teams) they joined the three others on zero in the overall before tonight’s final.

2014 Bremen Six Day

No doubt the winner will be found among those four teams, and we dare to go one step further in our prognostic: The winner will be either Bartko – Kalz or Lampater – Stroetinga, both with 285 points far ahead of the other two teams.

Perhaps the biggest surprise on the evening: The return of Marguet and Havik in the race. Keine Hexerei, nur Behändichkeit…

In the infield the great winners were Klaus & Klaus, making their come back in the Bremer 6-Days after three years pause. Nordsee Küste, Pferd auf den Fluur and Werder-Song made the capacity-crowd in the infield (periodic closed for more guests by the authorities) going absolutely bananas. And when Danny Clark joined them as third man on the stage it came to new outstanding ovations. The good old 6-Days is back in Bremen!

While Klaus & Klaus finished with Polizei-Stunden, the guards and the officials cleared the track in order to make it possible for the riders to turn their last rounds.

Overall Standings - Main Competition
1 Robert Bartko – Marcel Kalz (GER), 285 p.,
2 Leif Lampater (GER) – Wim Stroetinga (NED), 285 p.,
3 Christian Grasmann (GER) – Vivien Brisse (FRA), 252 p.,
4 Andreas Müller (AUT) – Marc Hester (DEN), 216 p.,

At Nineteen Laps
9 Milan Kadlec (CZE) – Nico Heβlich (GER), 144 p.,

At Twenty-Three Laps
10 Luke Roberts (AUS) – Martin Blaha (CZE), 65 p.,

At Thirty Laps
11 Hans Pirius – Sebastian Wotschke (GER), 62 p.,

At Thirty-Two Laps
12 Nicky Cocquyt (BEL) – Tino Thömel (GER), 40 p.

--------------------------------------------------------------

2014 Bremen Six Day - Day Four

Also on Sunday the 6-Day riders had to work a little bit. Two Madison’s were on the program, the first one 45 Minutes and the second a quick one of 111 laps.

The big chase saw Grasmann – Brisse as the great winners. In the end of the 45 Minutes they lapped the field together with Stöpler – Marvulli (now definitive a new team in the race), and with just 10 laps to go Grasmann – Brisse rushed again, trying to make a doublet.

2014 Bremen Six Day

The time was too short for that but they won the chase, which brought them in leading position overall.

The short chase gave benefit for Graf – Mørkøv, winning the chase and getting a bonus-lap for passing their first 100 points. Later in the afternoon also German star-team Bartko – Kalz got a bonus-lap which brought them back on top of the overall.

Overall Standings - Main Competition
1 Robert Bartko – Marcel Kalz (GER), 224 p.,
2 Leif Lampater (GER) – Wim Stroetinga (NED),212 p.,
3 Christian Grasmann (GER) – Vivien Brisse (FRA), 208 p.,

At One Lap
4 Andreas Müller (AUT) – Marc Hester (DEN), 164 p.,

At Three Laps
5 Andreas Graf (AUT) – Jesper Mørkøv (DEN), 121 p.,
6 Nick Stöpler (SUI) – Franco Marvulli (SUI), 118 p.,

New team: Franco Marvulli (SUI) – Nick Stöpler (NED). --------------------------------------------------------------

2014 Bremen Six Day - Day One

The 50th Anniversary race in Bremen got a splendid start with an enthusiastic crowd far bigger on the opening evening as has been the case the two previous years.

Starters of honor were the Australian 6-Days legend Danny Clark and DRK-President Rudolf Seiters.

2014 Bremen Six Day

On the track first serious business was the big Madison. Winners and leaders of the race by a lap was the German-French combination Christian Grasmann – Vivien Brisse.

Perhaps a surprise for somebody, but Grasmann has built up his form in Australia and Brisse improved every day in Rotterdam 6-Days.

But with six teams just one lap down everything is still open. For some teams the first evening was not so easy, as you can see from the overall below.

Overall Standings - Main Competition
1 Christian Grasmann (GER) – Vivien Brisse (FRA), 42 p.,

At One Lap
2 Tristan Marguet – Franco Marvulli (SUI), 53 p.,
3 Leif Lampater (GER) – Wim Stroetinga (NED), 51 p.,
4 Robert Bartko – Marcel Kalz (GER), 42 p.,
5 Andreas Müller (AUT) – Marc Hester (DEN), 22 p.,
6 Yoeri Havik – Nick Stöpler (NED), 14 p.,
7 Andreas Graf (AUT) – Jesper Mørkøv (DEN), 5 p.,

At Two Laps
8 Erik Mohs – Marcel Barth (GER), 15 p.,

At Three Laps
9 Luke Roberts (AUS) – Martin Blaha (CZE), 7 p.,

At Four Laps
10 Milan Kadlec (CZE) – Nico Heβlich (GER), 12 p.,

At Six Laps
11 Nicky Cocquyt (BEL) – Tino Thömel (GER), 7 p.,
12 Hans Pirius – Sebastian Wotschke (GER), 0 p.
