    6-Giorni delle Rose Fiorenzuola 2013

    6-Giorni delle Rose Fiorenzuola 2013

26th July 2013: This years “6-Giorni delle Rose” is the 16th in a series, which started back in 1998 with the “king of 6-Days” Bruno Risi from Switzerland and superb Italian all-rounder Giovanni Lombardi as the first winners. The 6-Days of Fiorenzuola has been a 6-Days in principle like the other European 6-Days in the winter-season, adjusted to the conditions that you are riding in the summertime on a 400 meters open-air velodrome. It might not be so easy to create the same intimate atmosphere you find on the short indoor-tracks in winter, but Mr. Santis 6-Days has created its own atmosphere and it has for sure been a charming and generous event in best Italian Style.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

2013 6-Giorni delle Rose Fiorenzuola - Day Six

The final day of the “6-Giorni delle Rose” was devoted totally to the 6-Day riders with Pointsrace, Scratch, Elimination, Giro Lanciato and a final Madison of 100 laps.

    6-Giorni delle Rose Fiorenzuola 2013

Already at the start of the day it was obvious, that it would be more than difficult to move the two boys from New Zealand from the leading position in the race, which they have had since the very first day.

Furthermore Archbold – Kennet played a very active role during the last day of racing, winning the Scratch (Kennet), Elimination (Archbold) and the Giro Lanciato (lap-record) in 21,397 Sec. Most aggressive challengers were the Russian Kovalev-brothers, winning the pointsrace and passing the 100 points, giving them a bonus-lap just before the Madison. That brought them in the same lap as Archbold – Kenneth, but still far behind on points. During the final Madison also Marguet – Perizzolo passed the 100 points, but accordingly to the 6-Day regulations no bonus-laps can be given during the final Madison.

Already before the final sprint, the boys from far away had the victory in their pocket, but as real 6-Day champions they also took the opportunity to win the last sprint.

2013 6-Giorni delle Rose Fiorenzuola - Day Five

More and more it looks like a “start to finish-victory” for Shane Archbold and Dylan Kennett in the “6-Giorni delle Rose” in Fiorenzuola. Even if the only discipline on the 6-Days program on Monday evening was a 50 lap Pointsrace, it secured the solid lead for the New Zealand team, because by scoring 21 points in this race they passed the magic 100 points in the overall and thus gained a bonus-lap.

2013 6-Giorni delle Rose Fiorenzuola - Day Three

The program for the 6-Day riders was pretty short on Saturday, in fact it only consisted of a Scratch-Race, an Elimination and 40 lap Points Race! But for some of the riders, it was still a rather buzzy day, because many of them were also engaged in the 120 lap “Madison International Fiorenzuola”.

This race offered opportunity for the riders and federations to gain UCI-points – but not a part of the 6-Days and had also participation of riders, not taking part in the 6-Days.

    6-Giorni delle Rose Fiorenzuola 2013

The Scratch Race for black numbers (6-Days) was won by Bertazzo ahead of Muzychkin and José Aguirre, while Dylan Kennett from the leading team won the Elimation (red numbers) with Edvard Avila second. In the 40 lap Points Race the sprints in the first part was won by Castegnaro, Eugeniy Kovalev, Muzychkin and one again Kovalev. In the second part Ivan Kovalev and Wojtek Pszczolarski won two sprint each. Overall results of the Pointsrace was a victory for Kovalev-brothers ahead of Jeziorski – Pszcolarski and the new-builded team Muzychkin – Avila.
