    Six Days Rotterdam 2013
    Rotterdam, Netherlands

    Sixday-Nights Zurich 2012 Hallenstadion

The first Six Day racing of 2013 is the Six Days of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, from the 3rd to the 8th January.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Six Days Rotterdam 2013 - Day Six

9th January 2013: The World Champions De Ketele – Van Hoecke took the initiative immediately from the start of the final evening by winning the first Madison, which gave them the points, they needed in order to get even with the other four teams in the overall. Thus five teams were ready to fight for the victory during the final Madison of 45 Minutes.

    Six Days Rotterdam 2013

Numerous attacks from each of the five teams again and again ended up in the same situation: Still five teams on zero. Then started the last 50 laps (10 Km) with sprints every 1o lap. While the other teams concentrated on the sprints, Keisse – Terpstra had another agenda.

They watched for the right moment for an “all or everything” attack in order to get the decisive lap, and with just eight laps to go, they managed to do so. Now there were no more time for a counter-attack, and Keisse – Terpstra were the winners of the 31st 6-Days in Rotterdam.

    Six Days Rotterdam 2013

The organizer Frank Boelé was very satisfied after the race: We have sold more tickets this year and we can see that the public appreciate good sport. Not only the Elite 6-Days but also the Giant Sprint Masters with Sir Chris Hoy & Co. was very well received. We will continue this line with a high sporting level also in the coming years.

Nobody could take the final victory in the UIV Talents Cup in Rotterdam from the Dutch boys Melvin van Zijl – Didier Caspers, who has dominated the race since the very begin last Thursday, but the Czech team Vendolsky – Kaduch managed to prevent them from winning their sixth stage-win in a row. The Czech stage-win didn’t change anything in the overall, but it showed that Vendolsky – Kaduch might be a better team, than their 7th place overall shows.

The Frenchmen preserved their second place, and the Danes took the last place on the podium.

Six Days Rotterdam 2013 - Day Five

8th January 2013: Tonight’s finale in Rotterdam might very well be a finale on points. The overall after the end of the second-last evening shows four teams on zero and with only 17 points between no. 1 and no. 4. And one lap behind one more team, just two points away from the bonus-lap. Therefore every point is important.

    Six Days Rotterdam 2013

On Monday evening Keisse – Terpstra won the first Madison after a photo-finish with all 12 teams in the same lap. Again in the second Madison the six top-teams watched each other carefully. At the end of the chase Keisse – Terpstra tried to take that solo-lap, which could have brought them in a very favorable position before the finale to night – but is was not allowed by the other top-teams. The end-sprint Schep – Stroetinga won ahead of Keisse – Terpstra.

Six Days Rotterdam 2013 - Day Four

7th January 2013: Voila – Six teams on zero! That was the foreseen result after Sunday afternoon’s program in AHOY Rotterdam. Thanks to the bonus-laps Havik – Stöpler and Bartko – Dillier joined the four leading teams, but the two young Dutchmen weren’t satisfied with that.

    Six Days Rotterdam 2013

They wanted to come back to the top of the overall and with aggressive racing and victories in the first Madison and in the Super-sprint they scored points enough to do so. Now everything is open before the two last days of racing. Veldt – Traksel is in the other end of the overall, but when it comes to the 400 Meters TT, they are on top – every day.

On Sunday the watch stopped at 21,781 Sec., which means an average-speed of 66,113 Km/h. Hats off for that!

Zijlaard has stopped, but Zijlaard still wins! Ron Zijlaard brought Leon van Bon to victory in the first of the two derny-races on Sunday.
